It has a coast on the Ionian Sea to the southwest and the Adriatic Sea to the west. Italy is less than 60 miles from Albania. The capital of Albania is Tirana. Albania is on the continent of Europe. Albania has a total area of 11,100 square miles. Albania's coastline is about 17 miles and 2,460 feet long and stretches on the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea. The lowlands face the Adriatic Sea to the west. 70% of the country is mountainous and rugged. The highest mountain reaches up to 9,032 feet. Albania has cold winters and hot summers.
