Anguilla is one of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. It consists of the main island of Anguilla itself, approximately 16 miles long by 3 miles wide, together with a number of much smaller islands with no permanent population. The island's capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 39.4 square miles, with a population of about 13,500. The Monarch of Anguilla is Queen Elizabeth II, the Governor is Andrew George, and the Chief Minister is Osbourne Fleming. The United Kingdom overseas the territory of Anguilla since 1980. The population of Anguilla is 13,477. The Per capita of Anguilla is $8,800.

Geography

The area of Anguilla is 39.4 sq mi. The natural resources of Anguilla are salt, fish, and lobster. Anguilla is about half the size of Washington D.C. Anguilla is located in Central America and the Caribbean. Anguilla is a flat, low island of limestone and coral in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico. The soil is poor and thin, supporting only scrub vegetation. Anguilla is know its spectacular and important coral reefs. Apart from the main island of Anguilla, the territory includes a number of cays and other smaller islands, most which are tiny and uninhabited. Some of these are:
