Argentina is bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, Uruguay and Brazil to the northeast, and Chile to the south and east. Argentina claims the British controlled territories of the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands. Argentina claims 374,312 sq mi of Antarctica, known as the Argentine Antarctica, overlapping many other claims made by the United Kingdomand Chile. The capital and largest city of Argentina is Buenos Aires. The president of Argentina is Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and the Vice President is Julio Cobos. Argentina's Per capita is $15,200.

Geography

Argentina is on the continent South America. The area comparative of Argentina is slightly less than three-tenths the size of the US. The climate is mostly temperate and arid in southeast and subantarctic in the southwest. The natural resources of Argentina are the fertile plains of the pampas, lead, tin, zinc, iron ore, manganese, copper, petroleum, and uranium. The lowest point in Argentina is Laguna del Carbón in Santa Cruz, −344 feet below sea level. This is the lowest point on the South American continent.
