Armenia is a landlocked, mountainous. Armenia borders Turkey to the west, Azerbaijan to the east and Georgia to the north. To the south is Iran and the Nakhchivan exclave of Azerbaijan. The capital and largest city is Yerevan. The president of Armenia is Robert Kocharyan and the prime minister of Armenia is Serzh Sargsyan. The Per capita of Armenia is $5,700.

Geography

The total area of Armenia is 11,506 sq mi. The Republic of Armenia is located in the north-east of the Armenian Highland covering 154,000 sq. mi. Armenia's terrain is mostly made up of mountains, with fast flowing rivers, and few forests. Armenia is subjected to hot summers and cold winters. The highest peak is Mount Aragats at 13,435, and no point is below 1,312 ft. Armenia is on the continent of Asia. Aremina is slightly smaller than Maryland. The natural resources of Aremnia are small deposits of gold, molybdenum, copper, zinc, and bauxite.

People

The population of Armenia is 3,229,900. The Infant mortality rate is 22 deaths out of 1,000 live births. The Life expectancy for males is 69 years and for females it is 76 years. The ethnic groups of Armenia are Armenian at 97.9%, Yezidi (Kurd) at 1.3%, Russian at 0.5%, and other at 0.3%. The languages spoken in Armenia are Armenian at 97.7%, Yezidi at 1%, Russian at 0.9%, and other at 0.4%. The literacy rate for males is 99.7% and for female it is 99.2%.
