Bob Gibson born on November 9, 1935, Hall of Fame Baseball pitcher, Bob Gibson. He pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1954-1975Bob Gibson was a Hall of Fame baseball pitcher for the Cardinals. Bob Gibsons real full name was Pack Robert "Bob" Gibson. His father died three months before he was born. When Pack Gibson turned 18 he changed his name to Robert Gibson. When he started baseball they called him Bob. He had health problems like rickets, asthma, pneumonia, and a heart murmur. He was active in sports like baseball and basketball. Bob Gibson has won lots awards. He won nine Golden Glove Awards. He was awarded World Series MVP award in 1964 and 1967, and he won the Cy Young Award in 1968 and 1970. He was the second pitcher in MLB to strike out 3000 batters. His number, 45, is retired by the St. Louis Cardinals, and in 1981 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
In 1999, he was elected to the Major league Baseball All Century Team. In all the years he played he had 3117 strike outs. He won eight world series. After playing baseball he went to the St. Louis Cardinals to be a sports caster.
