Does the number of matches affect the cloud formation? Well, that was our question. We experimented with this question for two days. We found out that it does affect the cloud formation but there was various types of clouds each time.







Our procedure for Test 1 was:

  • Step 1 Get a jar
  • Step 2 Fill it with a cup of water
  • Step 3 Light one match
  • Step 4 Let it burn for 10 seconds
  • Step 5 Drop it in the jar
  • Step 6 Put ice pack on quickly
  • Step 7 Keep the ice pack on for 1 minute
  • Step 8 Take it off and enjoy your cloud!!

Our procedure for Test 2 was:

  • Step 1 Get a jar
  • Step 2 Fill it with a cup of water
  • Step 3 Light 2 matches
  • Step 4 Let it burn for 10 seconds
  • Step 5 Drop it in the jar
  • Step 6 Put the ice pack on top
  • Step 7 Keep the ice pack on for 1 minute
  • Step 8 Take the ice pack off and enjoy your cloud!

Our Procedure for test 3 was:

  • Step 1 Get a jar
  • Step 2 Fill it with a cup of water
  • Step 3 Light three matches
  • Step 4 Let them burn for 10 seconds
  • Step 5 Drop it in the jar quickly
  • Step 6 Put the ice pack on the top
  • Step 7 Hold on for one minute
  • Step 8 Take the ice pack off the jar and enjoy your cloud!

And for test 4 was:

  • Step 1 Get a jar
  • Step 2 Fill it with a cup of water
  • Step 3 Light 5 matches
  • Step 4 Let burn for 10 seconds
  • Step 5 Drop matches in the jar quickly
  • Step 6 Quickly put the ice pack on top
  • Step 7 Hold ice pack on for 1 minute
  • Step 8 Take the ice pack off and enjoy your cloud!

So, we answered our question, and hopefully yours too!!! Our Results demonstrated that the number of matches does affect cloud formations, and more matches proved to be the best!
