From Wiki 5A

October 2008

Wiki 5A started experimenting with a new feature. Visit the article on the Ball Python and click the audio link to hear the article being read. This makes our wiki even more accessible to students. For those younger students that like to read about certain topics but are too young to read our articles, they can now listen to the article and still gain the same knowledge. Note: as of this writing, the only article that has the audio link is the Ball Python article.

Wiki 5A also reached 1000 articles on October 20, 2008. All 1000 articles have been written and edited by SES fifth graders.

September 2008

This year's fifth graders have been introduced to their new major responsibility: Wiki 5A. They have accepted this responsibilitiy and are beginning to make their mark on it. As always, check back often to see the latest updates.

August 2008

The Wiki 5A has reached 50 articles in the Timeline category. We curretly we have 700 articles in 38 different categories.

May 2008

Students are winding the year down by putting finishing touches on various articles and topics. It's been an incredible year on here for them. They have added more than 150 articles this year! Excellent work, everyone!

April 2008

Work is underway to identify articles that do not meet our newly adopted standards for famous people and animals.

March 2008

The students have begun developing a set of standards for three of our article categories. We will use these to help make sure our articles give, at the very least, the same basic information. The students have also submitted their final drafts on their famous person research. Their work can be found in the famous people category.

February 2008

The students have created a new category to use with difficult or unknown words. You can find these words in the definitions category.

November 2007

Dayton06 is named Chief Editor of Wiki 5A.

October 2007

Work continues on editing articles for spelling and grammar errors. A few students have also taken on a pretty cool project: a Harry Potter Encyclopedia. It is still in its early stages, but their work so far is great. Check it out!

The students have also created a new category of articles to hold their book reviews. Watch this category closely as they'll be adding new reviews often. Follow this link to read through the reviews we currently offer.

August 2007

With school back in session, the new fifth graders are slowly being introduced to Wiki 5A by doing some group edits on a couple of articles. Look for things to pick up as more and more students "get the hang" of our wiki. Just as impressive is the fact that last year's fifth graders still find some time to improve our wiki. Thanks to everyone for your efforts!

April 2007

Most of our content has been added for the year. With the majority of our content added, many students have been busy seeking out spelling and grammar errors in our new articles. Others have taken time on their own to write articles over their own interests. Even others have worked hard to link articles to one another. All this work has been impressive.

  • March 29, 2007 - students begin editing articles on the planets.
