Dr. Seuss was famous by writing rhyming books for little kids. One of his best known books is The Cat in the Hat. More than a thousand children have his books. Theodore Seuss Geisel,was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he grew up to become one of America’s most loved authors of children’s books.

When his mom and dad were working he went down the street and watched the animals in the zoo. He had looked at the animals in a kind of way that you normally don’t. He was imaging them as these unusual creatures. That’s where he got the creatures in the book. In high school, he was the master of art. When he graduated and went in college, he edited the Jack-O-Lantern magazine. In 1936, he started to write verses of his first book And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street. His 47th book was one of the top 10 best-selling children’s books. It was also translated into 20 different languages and sold over 300 million books!
