Religion and the Ancient Egyptians
The ancient Egyptians believe in many gods and goddesses. One of the most popular god, they believed in is Aman-Ra. Aman-Ra is the god of the sun. He was also called The Creator. Legend has it that a flower appeared in Ancient Egypt and inside that flower was Aman-Ra. Aman-Ra has a son named Shu, the god of air, and a daughter named Tefnut which is the goddess of the dew and moisture. They also have children, a son named Geb, god of the earth, and a daughter named Nut, goddess of the sky. Geb and Nut had children as well, two sons named Osiris and Seth, and two daughters named Isis and Nephthys.
Mummies
The Ancient Egyptians mummified the dead. They did this because they believed that the body must always be in contact so the dead person's spirit could live in it. If the body decayed the dead person wouldn't have an afterlife. They removed the person's eternal organs by making small slices in the body. Then the dead body must be placed in special salt crystals for forty days. After the body has been dried they wash it and wrap it in scented bandages. Then they place it in a coffin where it will rest forever. For more information go to Mummies
