Henry McCarty, "AKA" Billy the Kid, is a famous outlaw. Billy the Kid born November 23, 1859. In 1874 his mother had died. His life of crime began in Silver city, New Mexico when he was just 15 years old, when he got a job at a hotel. At the hotel he got charged for theft then he was thrown in jail and he escaped out of the chimney and fled to Arizona.

On Aug. 17, 1877, in Arizona, he got into a saloon fight. He shot and killed Windy Cahill and fled back to New Mexico. In New Mexico he and five others participated in an ambush, they killed Sheriff William Brady in Lincolnville on Apr. 1, 1778. When he was 17 he was involved in the Lincoln county war which led to conflict between rivals.

Then he has a shootout with Murphy Dolan. There he showed himself as a fearless fighter and crack shot. Age 21, Sheriff Pot tracked Billy down to Fort Summer. In a darkened room in the military houses Billy was shot two times and killed instantly. Billy the Kid was died in July 14, 1881. In all he was known for 21 killings.
