Ice is made by water that froze. Seven tenths (7/10) of Earth's fresh water has frozen over time. Much of Earth's ice is in Greenland and Antarctica. One iceberg that broke off the Antarctica ice sheet was twice the size of Rhode Island. Ice floats because it is 9% less dense than liquid water. When ocean water freezes it has no salt in it. Ice takes up 9% more space than water.
