James Knox Polk was the eleventh president. He helped increase the size of the United States by 50%. In the Presidential election he was the black horse and narrowly beat Henry Clay.James Polk was born on November 2, 1795. James’s youth was hard because of his sickness. As a child he was unable to be active a lot because of his illness. It was also hard for him even more because they moved to Tennessee which made him sicker. While he was in the election narrowly beat Henry Clay. While he was president he increased the United States by 50%. He also help obtain Oregon from Great Britain and made it part of the United States. Some of the interesting about him is that he was a black horse in the election. Before he was president he was Tennessee’s governor and was elected into the U.S. House of Representatives. Another thing he did while he was president, he helped win a war against Mexico. James Polk died in 1849 because of old age. James Polk was the eleventh president. He helped the U.S.A. grow by 50%. He narrowly beat Henry Clay in the election.
