Jewel Kilcher is very young. She is also a singing sensation. She sold more than ten million copies of her 1995 debut release, Pieces of You. Jewel returned to more familiar territory in 2006 with Goodbye, Alice in Wonderland.Jewel was born on May 23, 1974 in Payson, Utah. When Jewel was a little girl her parents divorced. Jewel decided to live with her father Artz Kilcher. Jewel was one of the three children to become a singer and song writer. Jewel started performing on stage with her father. When Jewel was little she spent most of her time playing piano. Jewel could play piano before she could ever read and write. Jewel started to play the guitar and wrote songs in her senior year. Jewel’s first solo performance was at age 15 for Tom Bodet’s End of the Road show. Jewel stared playing in a coffeehouse around San Diego, California. She also stared performing in bars. In March 1994, she signed an Atlantic Records contract, and she soon recorded four sets of live music. Some included Pieces of You and Little Sister. She stared writing poems and then started writing her own songs. In March of 1994, she was signed to Atlantic Records. Jewel’s poetry spent two weeks on the best sellers list. Jewel is still very young and is still performing at concerts around America.
