Maine is our 23rd state and was founded in March 15 of 1820. Maine's capital is Augusta. Maine's state flower is the White Cone and Tassel and the state tree is the Eastern White Pine. The state bird is the Chickadee. The state fish is the Landlocked Atlantic salmon. Maine's nicknames are the "Pine Tree State", the "Border State", the "Old Dirgo State", and the "Vacationland". Did you know... that the first naval battle of The American Revolutionary War took place off the coast of Maine.
