Miles Dewey Davis was a Jazz musician, a composer, and a band-leader. Miles had many records. He also was credited partially for creating a kind of music.Miles was born on May 26, 1926 in Alton, Illinois. Miles Davis started studying music at the age of nine. When Davis was a boy he learned to ride horses. When he was sixteen Davis became a member of the Musicians Union. Miles started playing the trumpet when he was 13. He played trumpet before he was 13, but started really playing at age 13. Davis was an established performer before he was 20, and in the late 1940s, he began heading his own band. There are also a lot of other interesting facts about Miles Davis. Davis got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. He was also inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame and the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame. His mom also did not want him to play trumpet, she wanted him to play violin. Miles also played in some early Bebop records and recorded one of the first cool Jazz records. Davis also was partially credited for developing Modal Jazz and Jazz Fusion. Davis had a 1957 album that was names Birth of Cool. Davis had his last performance in Montreux, Switzerland. Miles Davis died September 28, 1991 in Santa Monica. He died of stroke, pneumonia, cell anemia, and diabetes.
