Montana is our 41st state and was founded in November 8 of 1889. Montana's capital is Helena. Montana's state flower is the bitterroot and the state tree is the ponderosa pine. The state bird is the western meadowlark. Montana's nicknames are "The Treasure State", the "Big Sky Country", and the "Land of Shining Mountains". Did you know... that the Roe River, in Montana is the shortest river in the world.
