New Jersey is our 3rd state and was founded in December 18 of 1787. New Jersey's capital is Trenton. New Jersey's state flower is the violet and the state tree is the red oak. The state bird is the eastern goldfinch. New Jersey's nicknames are "The Garden State" and the "Crossroads of the East". Did you know... that the first true baseball game was played in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1846.
